Join us at Bikes Boats Boots 2023!

This year we’re very proud to be supporting Bikes Boats Boots 2023 to raise vital funds for Eden Valley Hospice.

It takes place on Saturday 13th May and is going to be an amazing day in the Lake District – we’ll be there and we’d love to encourage as many people as possible to join us…

Challenge yourself in the great outdoors, with Ullswater and Helvellyn providing a stunning and scenic backdrop to your activities. During an action-packed day of fundraising you will cycle, canoe and hike amongst the northern-most reaches of the beautiful Lake District.

What can you expect?

Bikes

Distance: 30 miles
Duration: total 3 to 4 hours

Starting from Newbiggin Village Hall, the cycle is split into 3 sections, one at the start of the day, one at the end and a short section of off-road cycling to Greenside Mines. The route takes you on a scenic route along the shores of Ullswater, surrounded by The Lake District peaks. The course is a mixed bag, with some small hills and one large climb.

Boats

Distance: 2 miles
Duration: Approx. 1 Hour

Grab a paddle and take on 2 miles of the stunning Ullswater lake. In a team of four you will complete in two connected canoe boats creating a stable craft, keeping the team together. When finished, you’ll be back on your bikes for a steep pedal up to the base of the mountain road for the ‘Boots’ section of the event.

Boots

Distance: 11km/Ascent 726m
Duration: 4 to 5 hours

Leave your bikes behind and get ready to trek up the third highest peak in England, the magnificent Helvellyn. For the tough climb you will be rewarded with incredible views across the whole Lake District. Once complete, it’s back on your bikes for the final 15 mile pedal to the finish and to celebrate your achievements.

You can enter as teams or as individuals and everyone is welcome.  To find out more and book your place, visit https://www.edenvalleyhospice.org/support-us/events/event/bikes-boats-boots.
